Sacrifice in Ancient Greece was one of the primary religious acts. This was how people communicated with the gods, whether that was through asking for something or giving thanks for the thing received. The beginning of this essay, published on Academia.edu by Gunnel Ekroth, describes what sacrifice would look like back then.

About Chuck Mee's (re)making project...
The following text is taken from Chuck Mee's website, where you can access all of his plays.
About the (re)making project
Please feel free to take the plays from this website and use them freely as a resource for your own work: that is to say, don't just make some cuts or rewrite a few passages or re-arrange them or put in a few texts that you like better, but pillage the plays as I have pillaged the structures and contents of the plays of Euripides and Brecht and stuff out of Soap Opera Digest and the evening news and the internet, and build your own, entirely new, piece—and then, please, put your own name to the work that results.

Glossary of Terms
Curious about some of the terms in Big Love? Roxane Heinz-Bradsaw's Spring 2015 class, Dramaturgy and Adaptation created a glossary for the play. Learn the origin of the names of the characters, some Italian phrases, and what it means if you dream about tomatoes!

An Introduction to Valerie Solanas
Valerie enters and lays down in a bathtub
VALERIE
Hello.
I am Valerie Solanas.
I am the basis for the character Thyona.
Sections of her speech are pulled directly from my text S.C.U.M Manifesto.
Typical of a man to steal my words.
I'd recommend reading it all
it's pretty enlightening, if I may say so myself.
Now
She gets out of the bathtub
if you'll excuse me,
I must go and shoot Andy Warhol.
Similar Themes in The Daily Northwestern in the fall of 2000 and today.
Big Love was first performed in 2000. The text of the play contains traces from that time, and our production will bring aspects of our own era. I have provided a comparison of the some of the news items in The Daily Northwestern in the fall of 2000 and the fall of 2015. Look it over to see what issues our still important to NU students today.
